It's finally here! Let's Get Pilates Strong together, y'all! Nine years ago today my entire life changed. I was diagnosed with a painful chronic, inflammatory arthritis that effects my blood, organs, muscles and joints and requires me to take medicine that greatly increases my chances of lymphoma. However, it was this life sentence that brought me to my current spot in life.... In the midst of this health crisis, I realized how important movement is. Exercise isn't about having a six-pack. It isn't about trying to look like I did 20 years ago. It wasn't about looking hot and faceable on the interwebs.... it is literally necessary in order to have a quality life. Movement doesn't care how old you are, what size you are or how much weigh. So there I was, over weight, out of shape and in pain attending yoga training and pilates training and CrossFit training. Being barely able to even walk a block but I knew these trainings would change my life and now I've helped so many people, as well. I'm launching my online pilates and fitness studio today and I'd love for you to join me in the BETA launch. It isn't perfect. There aren't hundreds of videos. I've spent the last two years doubting myself and delaying this launch because I don't "look like" a pilates instructor. I don't "look like" a fitness instructor. Focusing on my disability instead of my ability... and then a client finally said it out loud. "You inspire me because of what has happened to you." Movement has saved me. Movement has made me strong in my mind and body and I'd love for you to feel the same.. Let's Get Pilates Strong together!

Sometimes you get what you want! The last few days at this business and personal growth conference have allowed me the space and power to find my next level. How fucking amazing, y’all! I came here thinking I would get help to grow my side gig and be able to help entrepreneurs grow their business. Nope! I’m here to help other women embrace and trust their power and live the life they deserve.... I’m like where the fuck did that even come from? But that really is it. For the last 12 years, I’ve worked with women who don’t recognize their power. Hell, I didn’t recognize MY power. I was a blamer, unwilling to find my own fault on what was wrong in my life. But how beautiful it is when we realize that we CAN create the life we deserve. That you can mother and love your lover the way that feels authentic to YOU not a book or some caricature that doesn’t apply to your life. So, my IG will be changing. It will focus on who I’m here to help. I’m still a massage therapist and a kick ass pilates instructor. But I’m so much more and so are you and I’m excited for what’s on the horizon! Real talk: sometimes walking away is the only choice. It’s not hard or easy. It’s a choice. For a year, I’ve been passively creating an online fitness studio, Get Pilates Strong. I say passively because I love teaching my clients in the studio and I’m on point and knowledgeable but I HATE working out on camera. It feels very group class to me, and the whole I’m taping, I’m considering all the folks watching who will need modifications. This is why I teach 1:1. My vacation gav...e me the mental deadline to get it together. I decided to trademark and make it legit and go forward. The trademark was a no go and I, without hesitation, said fuck it, time for my side gig to become my main gig. I was not aligned with online fitness. Often we ask for a direction, then we talk ourselves out of the answer. Man.... this #wanderlust is for real. Already thinking about doing a month in #Scotland next year or 2021. While in Florence, I met a lovely couple from Scotland who recommended #barraisland and #harrisisland and a wee visit to Edinburgh and Glasgow. I’ve looked up those spots and evidently they are some of the most beautiful spots Scotland has to offer.

I received a note from a woman asking how I cured my #rheumatoidarthritis I haven’t. #RA is with me every day. Actually, last night I had a blare in my right arm and left foot, which are the usual spots. Never know the why, which is the adventure of an #autoimmune condition. I suspect the 75 minute #pilates reformer routine and arm work I did Saturday. Who knows?... I took an Aleve, half a Vicodin and iced my foot and within three hours the pain had subsided. Cured, though? Not at all. My general pain level is about a 2/3. I make a point to rest/sleep for at least seven hours a day, I eat smaller portions (mostly), and stretch and move every day. My only RA specific med is my #Enbrel shot, which I do about every 10-14 days. Is it genetics? Is it intention? Lifestyle? I think it’s all of the above but to me, it’s my focus. I no longer focus on the pain and I keep the negativity mostly out of my thoughts. I’ve been depressed and anxious. I’m not giving this condition any more power in my life. So, no, I’m not cured. Evidently #bikeriding in #amsterdam is legit a professional pastime. And not having a proper coat during my visit, I didn’t even attempt to THINK about renting a bike. This morning’s ride in #coronado was so delicious. I’ve cut my riding time by 6 minutes (huge) and more important, I felt so strong during my ride. Now, happy workout is done and the Sunday life begins: listening to my Me’shell Ndegeocello station on #pandora , drinking the first #coffee of the day (#chicory...) recording some #podcast episodes, writing posts for my new #blog and prepping for the launch of my online fitness studio ( join the waitlist in the bio). Each day doesn’t have to be filled to the brim. Do what you can when you can and don’t stress what you can’t do.

After 15 days of international travel, I can tell you this was surprisingly the best jet lag recovery I could have hoped for. Here’s a few things I did during the trip to keep me moving. If you’ve got some jet lag tips, please share. 1. Bring and use resistance bands: super easy to throw in your luggage and keeping those muscles activated is key in recovery... 2. Don’t plan for this long, drawn out workout. Sometimes just the thought of that is enough to not make it happen. Just 10 minutes is enough to get the heart rate up, muscles activated and get you up and moving 3. My mid 40s spine needs movement EVERY DAY. Can I get an amen! Rolldowns, side flexion, extension... all the quick and easy spinal movements every day keep you feeling human And depending on your budget, upgrade to a Comfort Plus or First/Business seat and/or get a massage mid-trip. I got a massage the day before I came back stateside and it was exactly what the doctor ordered.
