December is here, and as a part of Coronado Ferry Landing, music shows we invite you to enjoy local music talent. Did you know that Coronado wasn’t the first choice in name for our city? In January 1886, a naming contest was announced in the San Diego newspapers with a $50 prize. Miramar was apparently the winning name, but when it was announced, nobody fancied this choice. Coronado (The Crowned One in English) was suggested, after the nearby Islas Coronadas from México, and everyone agreed that it was the perfect name for this city.
