"I did this and am SO happy! I had 19 mini VHS tapes that were 30 years old, when my kids were babies. We had a house fire when the kids were small and these we...re the only recorded memories that didn't get destroyed. I was scared to death at the thought of mailing them off to strangers but... they were doing me no good as they were... I don't have a VCR and my kids certainly don't! I had no way to share these memories, they were just sitting in my closet deteriorating. I took the leap and did it. Ordered their box, shipped them off and waited. I was actually scared that they would all be blank because I heard stories about VHS tapes doing this. I have never had such an elated moment as I had when I got the email that they were done. Reposted from @garyestevenson Many of us have dealt with deep disappointment and sorrow this year. With all we are facing in the world today, how do we heal, endure, and move forward with faith? Even during times of affliction and heartbreaking disappointment we are still highly favored of the Lord (1 Nephi 1:1). A couple months ago, Lesa and I met virtually with hundreds of missionaries. While we would have loved to visit these missionaries in person and shake their hands,... I noticed that meeting via video conference has some benefits. Virtually, we could see these missionaries’ faces close up, something we might not be able to do in a large group gathering in a chapel. I could read their names and speak to them, and they could wave back to me. One day, each of us will look back at the canceled events and the sadness, disappointment, and loneliness attendant to the pandemic to see it overshadowed by blessings and with increased faith and testimonies. In this life, and in the life to come, our afflictions will be consecrated for our gain. Jesus Christ hath descended below them all (Doctrine and Covenants 122:8). #GeneralConference
