As the new school year starts, it’s definitely bittersweet seeing pictures & posts of our beloved campus, former teachers, & alum. Grateful for the time we got to visit, to reconnect with Connelly family, & to take home some mementos to last forever before the campus officially closed. Dear Class of ‘82 Friends, It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved classmate, Cynthia Muellerleile Bergendahl, who died on May 19, 2020. Cindy suffered a brain injury in a fall, and sadly never recovered. She was 55. Cindy is survived by her parents, sister Christine (Class of ‘80), two brothers John and Michael, and sons Matthew and Nicholas. ... Due to Covid, only 10 people were allowed at the funeral and the message never got out. Please keep Cindy and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Happy Friday Fellow Alumnae & our Forever Connelly Family This is Nik Reyno. Here are some pictures of me, my little family, & our babygirl, whom I was hoping would be attending Connelly as a legacy one day I was known as Nicole Cantoria (Nikki to most) from class of 2007. I am honored and privileged to be given the opportunity to help continue running this Facebook page as well as the Connelly instagram @CorneliaConnellyHSalumnae (you’ll see me there as @NiksLettering).... Since these are pages for ALL Alumnae to enjoy, I’d like to invite any and all interested in helping run these social media pages so more can monitor and post from varying years to continue the beloved memory-sharing . PLEASE message me PRIVATELY to be added to the list so we can coordinate a schedule of rotation or round-table to run this page all together, depending on number of volunteers. Last Friday, June 26, 2020, Cornelia Connelly School forever closed her doors. Here are some of the last photos of the office staff and faculty on the last day before walking off campus for the last time. In addition to our lovely Head of School, Mrs. Sienkowski, these faces are those of people who were mostly behind the scenes, but yet played an integral role at Cornelia Connelly School. Several people in the photos are alumnae, who have an even deeper connection to our belo...ved school. And while there are smiles on all of these faces, this was a difficult and sad day. The smiles are from the years of camaraderie that formed a loving family for all of our students and visitors to our campus. Even Cornelia Connelly, who herself faced difficulties, sadness and hardship in her life, still found joy and urged others to find joy in all circumstances: First to bear adversities with endurancethen with willingnessthen with joy. So, to our dear alumnae who find themselves feeling sad at the closing of Cornelia Connelly School, we wish you comfort and joy, and invite you to remember all of the blessings you received while attending Connelly - especially that of lifelong sisterhood. At the urging of many who didn’t wish for Connelly’s current Facebook and Instagram pages to be deactivated, we have changed their names and made them into alumnae pages that will, effective immediately, be run by, and for, alumnae. As OC Catholic so perfectly wrote, "after nearly 60 years of educating challenging and inspiring young women to learn with joy, grow in faith and serve others, Cornelia Connelly High School in Anaheim will be closing its doors." Alumnae - please see our website homepage for contact info you may need in the future, including transcript request info and alumnae contact info for reunions. The Connelly website will remain active and managed by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus... for a few years. All Cornelia Connelly School social media will be deactivated on June 30, 2020. We encourage you to form Connelly group pages to stay in touch with your classmates - there are already several in existence. Perhaps they can be shared on this post. It has been our pleasure to have educated generations of confident, articulate leaders for nearly 60 years. We wish God’s blessings over all of our alumnae. Dear Alumnae - It was nice to see so many of you these past few days. We know some of you were unable to attend our memorabilia event because of the dates/times. We are offering one last opportunity for you to come to campus to the Visual Arts Center to browse through and take home any of the remaining Connelly memorabilia. This event will be this Saturday, June 20, from 9:00 a.m. - Noon only. Doors will close promptly at Noon. Hope to see you there!
