CORE Physical Therapy Exercise of the Day: Trap Bar Deadlifts. Benefits: Less strain on the low back and more emphasis on the quads! . Due to the increased knee flexion in the set up, the quads are stressed throughout the lift more than a conventional or stiff-legged deadlift. In having more knee flexion, a lifter is often able to keep a more upright torso positioning, minimizing strain on the hamstrings and lower back (in comparison to the conventional deadlift).
