Planning Curriculum Post. 2019 educational and fun camp with the Copren 5 Forest Resources. Potential working title--Insect Appreciation Family Camp. Five themes: 1) Observation - How to observe living organisms without disturbing their natural behavior, i.e. don't grab, don't have fear. Knowledge is power. Patience is a virtue and an observational philosophy. 2) Art and Documentation: Insect appreciation through biological sketching and collection notebooks (how to translat...e your observations). 3) Identification: Major groupings of insects and invertebrates. Collection and identification with fun tools and biophysics (lighting, nets, scopes) 4)Insects & Society: What is a "pest"? Why you should not hate (kill with pesticides), but appreciate (understand how to co-exist in a biologically responsible way). Ants--Difference between disturbed and non-disturbed habitats.
