Standing up for the little guy. After the hearing, Constantouros’ attorney, Colin Cooper called Foley a jerk and said the allegations against his client were bogus. This guy (Foley) was a cop for 20 years, he has a martial arts background, he’s been on gang units and he’s really he’s afraid of a 70-year-old guy? Cooper asked, incredulously. He added it was too bad Foley didn’t bother to show up because cross-examining him would have been entertaining.

Jail is no place for anyone.

Juror nullification is your right to refuse to enforce bad laws and bad prosecutions.

A glimpse into what we do as public defenders and criminal defense attorneys. The criminal justice system has these massive resources for catching people, locking them up, telling them they are no good, and sending them away. Imagine if those resources were used to address trauma at its root. Imagine.

Congratulations to my law partner Kellin Cooper on getting a NOT GUILTY today on his felony trial in Martinez! The district attorney wanted to give him a strike and send him to prison but our 18-year-old client will now be going home with a clean record.

Seth Morris will be presenting at the Capital Case Defense Seminar today about litigating gang cases, sharing best practices and tips from his recent successful trial in Martinez where our client was charged with three attempted murders from a drive-by shooting.
