Way Back Wednesday: Donald R Cook moved to Fresno, Ca in 1942 to serve in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. at Camp Pinedale during WWII. Following the war he started a small radio repair business in the back of a Fresno shoe store. He subsequently founded Cook’s Communications Corp and successfully built the business into one of the largest two-way radio and mobile telephone companies in the U.S. He is pictured here (not in his usual suit & tie) at Riverland Resort holding a Cook’s Transceiver made by Kokusai portable radio

Today, Fresno County Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Shipman dropped off Santa Claus in style at the Dante Club in northwest Fresno. This is the site where the PTA of Her...ndon-Barstow Elementary is hosting its Cookies and Cocoa with Santa event. It is always a great experience for parents and children. It is open to the community for folks to do some shopping and get a photo with Santa. Event goes until 8:00 pm. See more
