Lotus mural by San Francisco artist fnnch. The idea for the Lotus was suggested by one of the residents of the building. The lotus flower is famous for starting in muddy water and yet emerging beautiful. This is a hopeful metaphor for the neighborhood and city if I’ve ever heard one. It is also intended to honor Little Saigon, which is nearby. ~fnnch The Lotus mural was done in collaboration with Conard House, San Francisco Parks Department, and other local organizations.... Thank you fnnch for your beautiful work!

Happy #ThankYouWednesday! We are so grateful to you, our community for rallying for a global day of generosity and giving. Your donations directly impacted the lives of our residents and clients, all of whom are extremely low-income and live with chronic illnesses, mental health conditions, and/or are chronically homeless. We are grateful to our community of supporters for helping us work towards our vision for San Francisco, where housing and mental healthcare are affordable and accessible to everyone, and where individuals with mental health conditions are not stigmatized or criminalized by society. We invite you to join us year-round in community to continue championing supportive housing and community living in San Francisco. Thank you.

Our mission and beliefs at Conard House are enduring, year-round, since our founding in 1960. The core of our work is our belief in community alternatives to institutions. When we invest in our residents and provide services that address the roots of chronic homelessness and extreme poverty, we can limit the number of times that people with mental illnesses interact with carceral systems that hurt rather than help them. Please continue to support us and our cause beyond #GivingTuesday.

This week, we give the stage to Ryan Chin, a student from Lick-Wilmerding High School, and his podcast regarding Homelessness in San Francisco: https://anchor.fm//Manifest-Project-San-Francisco-Homeless

I volunteer for Conard House because when I decided I wanted to take a gap year for college, I knew that I'd want to do meaningful work in my community during my time at home. I heard about Conard House through a friend who was volunteering with the non-profit and decided to learn more. After reading about what Conard House stood for and how they help the homeless in San Francisco, I found myself motivated to help an organization that truly cares about the population they serve. ~Jeannie

I joined Conard House because I admire their work and the support they provide for adults living with serious mental health and medical conditions. As an individual, I always wanted to make a difference and being a part of Conard House would only bring me closer to my vison. Also, the population we serve is usually overlooked and Conard House does a great job in providing extensive care and support. Being a part and helping Conard House with its mission makes me feel like I can make a difference in improving people’s lives. ~Malvika

Some reasons why it is very important to vote: 1. Voting is a way for our voices to be heard. 2. Voting is a big opportunity to create positive change. 3. Vote because the community depends on you.... Let's exercise our right to vote!
