Did you know that out of the 2,250 individuals experiencing homelessness in Santa Cruz County during the 2017 count 423 were transition age youth? (Unaccompanie...d youth ages 18-24) make up over a quarter of the total unsheltered population in Santa Cruz County. Over 60% have been in the foster care system at some time in their childhood. One possible solution to addressing this in our community could be you or someone you know that has a room to host a youth in their home. As The Host Home Program Coordinator @ Bill Wilson Center I am excited to announce the new launch of Host Homes in Santa Cruz County! Do you have a spare room in your home? Do you have a heart of service? Would you like to earn income and learn more about how to support Youth experiencing homelessness in our community? Desired hosts are welcoming, non-judgmental individuals, couples, or families with a spare room to offer, and are committed to helping youth lead safe, stable, and self directed lives. If this is you please message me directly with any questions or more information about the program.
