NOTICE: For those who love and use Monterey County's Toro Park, some disappointing news. The park is closed indefinitely. See the link for more information. http://ow.ly/tvQY30r6DP8

Monterey County Parks 11.09.2020

At this time, Toro Park is closed to all public access and use (hiking, biking, equestrian) and there currently is no reopening time frame. As you may know, the area is being used as a base camp by CAL FIRE, but also, much of the part sustained wildfire damage. There is currently fire suppression repair work going on, dozers are currently being used for water bars and rolling dips and some of the dozer lines are on existing vehicle travel trails like Ollason. A complete damage assessment needs to be done to determine what is needed for recovery, but not all areas of the part are accessible yet. As soon as safe, park staff and CAL FIRE will make those assessments. Parks staff will also be assessing the entire trail network and open space including erosion control for next winter.
