YOU ARE INVITED TO A COMPOST TEA PARTY. Be the change and participate in this community event to transform one school playground into a 100% ORGANIC landscaped,... field, gardens, school forest. You can get your hands in the dirt, learn how to make your own compost brew for your home garden from soil expert Dr. David White, Executive Director of the Center for Regenerative Agriculture. Learn about beneficial bugs from world-renowned experts Ron and Jan Dietrick . And did I mention FOOD..... All volunteers will be treated to an EAT LESS WATER ORGANIC TAMALE LUNCH made from scratch by The Encampment Students (30 youth from around the nation including 1 from Africa and 1 from Greece.) I'm calling it FARM TO PLAYGROUND. So many hands are involved to make this event a success, and more importantly to create a TEMPLATE to be replicated at other school, parks, medians.... We are only getting started. Thank you to the Encampment for Citizenship (est. in 1947 to train youth to become changemakers in their communities around the nation and world), The Center for Regenerative Agriculture for helping with the compost tea, Principal Veronica Rauschenberger for opening the gates of her school for this event without hesitation, Oxnard Union High School District Farm to School program for lending us your tools, Adam Vega from Pesticide Reform for his help organizing this event, The Abundant Table, CAUSE, MICOP, Inlakech and Javier Gomez for agreeing to be "the band." THERE IS POWER IN THE COLLECTIVE! Rio Lindo School is located at 2131 Snow Ave, Oxnard, CA 93036. Saturday, July 6 from 10-1 Check out my page for information regarding the spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the event on July 10 at BG's Cafe. You can donate your ticket to an Encampment Youth if you can't make it.

Want your basil plant to thrive well into the fall? Keep it pruned! The trick is to pluck the stem or a flowering head where it meets two new shoots. Do this when you harvest to promote new growth and bushing.
