Action Alert! AB 310: CA State Public Bank Act! This could be THE most important thing we can do this year for relief and recovery from the pandemic, for SOCIAL JUSTICE - AND for climate solutions and mitigation. Public banking is in the Green New Deal, as well! A state public bank might be used to finance new bike and pedestrian pathways and transitions to clean energy! Take action TODAY and the next two months!

Urgent! Your help is needed now! Please take 2 minutes and submit a short comment in support of the Advanced Clean Truck Rule, which will help speed the transition of dirty, diesel trucks to clean, electric trucks. Heavy-duty trucks are the largest source of smog-forming NOx in California. Getting this rule passed is one of the most important environmental actions we can influence in 2020! Comments must be submitted by Thursday, May 28th! Please visit the Air Resources Board... comment page: https://www.arb.ca.gov/lispub/comm/bcsubform.php Write a comment saying you support a strong Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) rule that requires that by 2030, at least 30% of the new trucks on California's roads to be electric, zero emissions vehicles. Read more at https://ww2.arb.ca.gov//f/advanced-clean-trucks-fact-sheet Getting this rule passed is one of the most important CA environmental rules of 2020 as it has impact in so many areas: 1) Think PV, EVs, wind & micro-grids are sexy? The battery cost reductions will justify WAY more PV, EVs & micro-grids! 2) Hate coal and natural gas in power plants? The battery cost reductions will enable more renewables into our electric power supply via cheap storage 3) Like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge & keeping oil wells out of there? Then this rule will significantly lower oil (diesel) use & bring on more electric vehicles via MUCH cheaper batteries 4) Want to repeat the California Telsa economic success story? Rule will catalyze a host of new technologies and businesses! There are more than 70 different models of zero-emission vans, trucks and buses that ALREADY are commercially available from several manufacturers. Most trucks and vans operate less than 100 miles per day and several zero-emission configurations are available to serve that need. Please write today and encourage your friends to also submit comments in support! Don't let trucking lobbyists water down this vital new proposal to clean up California's air and reduce our state's greenhouse gas emissions!

URGENT: Emergency funding needed to keep Bay Area public transit running during COVID-19 Please sign & share these two petitions! - Public transit serves *tens of thousands* of students not old enough to drive, senior citizens, and many others who cannot afford a car. Some of the transit agencies will go bankrupt if they do not receive emergency funding. We also need public transit if we are to reach our climate goals and get cars off the road. Thanks! Be well!

Fun stuff: coronavirus advice in sign language - and you don't even need to know Italian! And (mostly) practical too! Except it should be SIX feet of distance, not three! Hope you and your families are doing well in these strange times! Be well! Our hearts are with you!

ACTION ALERT: One of our other campaigns is Zero Waste Action - Sonoma County. The Santa Rosa City Council will have a presentation on their Zero Waste Master Plan at the council meeting on Tuesday evening, January 28th. The council will need to see an outpouring of public demand/support to move forward meaningfully on implementing Zero Waste goals. We hope you can come to this meeting to support. The city staff member presenting the plan predicts the item will come up in the... 5:30-6:00 PM time frame. Please send an email to the SR City Council members: Here are the asks for the council. You can personalize by adding in reasons why the council should support Zero Waste and Climate efforts: - Support the Zero Waste master plan by dedicating resources (funds) and staff time to implementation - Choose Climate Change/Action as a Tier 1 Priority (and implement ZW plan as part of this priority) - Pass the Disposable Food Service Ware and Polystyrene Foam Ban Model Ordinance Here are the council members' emails: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] Thank you!
