This post is for education purposes hope this is beneficial for somebody. We installed 5 or 6 cameras for a customer a few years ago and they sold there house recently. The new owner was having some issues with the system(not sure of the issues or how the chain of events happened) and ended up buying another camera system. The nice man called us to see if we wanted the old cameras and even delivered them to us. I tried to find out why he replaced the cameras and he just ...said "the person he hired to work on them said he should replace the cameras and it was a long story" and left it at that. After he left I was pretty happy because they were Axis P33 series domes and even though they were a few years old they work for years and years have a great picture and the cameras were still in production. But as I looked at them closer i noticed the lens heater was busted on one and the others had been removed and installed improperly . After wondering why I can only assume who ever was working on the cameras thought they could manually adjust the lens??? These cameras cost $1000 each!! Each camera has a remote focus feature that you adjust from the network interface, as easy as clicking the mouse or sliding a bar to zoom it in and out. I tested the camera and it still works but will need some spare parts to make whole. My message out of all of this is: Make sure whoever you hire knows your equipment. Best way to do that is go to the manufactures website click on the button "Find a dealer" and select from their list. If that isn't an option just ask the tech when he arrives, it will save you a bunch of money. I hope the nice man ended up with a nice camera system he's happy with. See more
