BCCM ANNOUNCEMENT We will be holding the virtual tribute to the life of Alan Shockley on November 13 at 6 pm. It will be streamed on this site: https://youtu.be/CEgdqoD51vA The first part of the memorial program will be a performance of one of Dr. Shockley’s works performed by current and recent graduates of his New Music Ensemble. After that we will present photos and recorded statements about Dr. Shockley as well as recorded performances of selected works. If you would ...like to participate by submitting a photo or memory/words of kindness statement (maximum 30 seconds), please send your photo/video by November 9 to [email protected] Any type of recording is fine. If you are using a smartphone, please record in landscape view. If we cannot fit all of the photos and statements at the virtual memorial, they will be included on a larger presentation on our YouTube channel. If you would like to participate as a performer in a recording of one of Dr. Shockley’s works for the memorial, please start with the selection of his works in the Google Doc below. The list of his compositions has been narrowed down to pieces that will be manageable to put together (not tempo dependent or small ensemble to be recorded to a click and easily put together). Recordings of each piece are also listed in the Google Docs link. It is not necessary, and may not be possible, to perform every piece on the list due to time constraints or difficultly. Please feel free to add any pieces that you think will be manageable: https://docs.google.com//1xc-To_UR_r3mTboPA9cU8gKlE-/edit Please add yourself to any piece that you would like to play. (in the performers column). All recorded material will need to be submitted between November 2 and November 9 to [email protected] in order to edit/compile it properly. Again, if a work is not on the virtual memorial it will be included on the larger presentation on the YouTube channel. Please join in the desire to celebrate Alan, he is greatly missed. See more

At our October 30th Forum, Garrett will share key points in his story, and talk about how his experiences as a performer led him to focusing his efforts on arts activism. Dear BCCM Community, Following the earlier announcement of covid cases on campus by the president, all face-to-face instruction/practice on campus is suspended for at least the next two weeks. Our dean specified below that there are no exceptions. I had asked specifically for piano and percussion students in the BCCM. All of these activities are suspended - no student should be on campus for any reason. I will let you know if I hear anything further. Thank you, ... Johannes M. Stosch Director BCCM See more
