I was craving something sweet last weekend, so I asked my husband to go to the #eastlakefarmersmarket and find us some goodies. He surprised me with theeeeese . Luckily we were able to figure out the name of the company who makes them so we can give credit where it is absolutely due. @bombombakehouse makes these amazing desserts and they are the perfect #foodiefridayfeature . I haven't featured a dessert in a while for #foodiefriday, so I present to you the Butter Cake from Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse I was able to eat there right before the most recent health order went into effect. Everything I ate was tasty, but nothing topped the dessert! . It was served warm, and the consistency of the cake was just how I like it... a slight little crunch on the edges, with a gooey center. It was buttery and rich, which was a perfect match offset to... the vanilla ice cream. . Del Frisco's is located along the North Embarcadero and anchors the waterfront InterContinental San Diego. Couldn't be happier to welcome this family home! After serving over 20 years in the armed forces and living all over the world, they wanted to enjoy retirement, give their kids the experience of living where they grew up and be close to family. . We started this process last year (thanks to a referral from a friend and past client @jbrosado ), when they were still living abroad getting ready to transition and retire. They decided to move into a rental first and hold off u...ntil they got settled so they could be thoughtful about where they wanted to lay down their roots. A year later, out of the blue, the stars aligned and they learned that the house next door was going to be listed. Hubby and I celebrated our 15th anniversary a couple of weeks ago. It was our first date night during the COVID era and our first time eating at a restaurant. We found the perfect restaurant with delicious Italian food. (Thanks @yelp!) Another great transformation from a past client! We closed back in December and they've been hard at work these last few months doing all the upgrades they've been wanting to do for years. Today's #foodiefridayfeature is another hidden gem that I found in a Facebook group #EastlakeFoodtogo, and I'm a little torn about it. My favorite sweet snack is chocolate chip cookies and through my quest of finding the best ones, I've narrowed down my favorites to 2: 1 the milk chocolate chip cookie at @unclebiffs and 2 the ones at Specialty's Cafe, which btw has sadly closed after 33 yrs due to the impact of COVID-19 in case you weren't aware . . Both locations w...ere a little far out of reach, so I didn't get to indulge as often as I probably would if I was in those areas more often. Buuuuut, I have found these that deserve to be in the same conversation as my all time favorites, annnnnd they are only 5 minutes away from me!!! . These chocolate chip cookies are literally like crackYou will instantly become addicted. Leilani Robles, the baker, bakes them fresh so they are warm when you pick them up. Happy #foodiefriday! The silver lining for me during this pandemic has been the emergence of homemade goodies being shared across social media platforms. Many who cooked/baked as a hobby or side hustle, or existing small business owners who pivoted to provide services and munchies to our communities, have found success thanks to word of mouth and social media. I've been able to try things I would've never would have otherwise. It has been awesome - just ask my waistline! ...Anyone else? . It's a different kind of #foodiefriday today because many #sandiego restaurants have reopened to allow customers to dine-in. There are many arguments on both sides of the coin on this... "It's too early to reopen!" OR "It's about damn time!" . Regardless of where you fall on this, important thing is to just do you and don't judge others for their choices. I've featured this place before, but I made my way back a couple of weeks ago thanks to my church @momentumsandiego. They choose a local restaurant on Wednesdays to do a #smallbusinessbuyout, where they encourage everyone to eat there to offer support. Husband and I look forward to this every week to help alleviate us of having to go through the painful decision-making process of what to eat for dinner. Another family helped . I was referred to this family last year, who needed assistance selling their family home. It took months of patience and work to get all of the moving parts in alignment, but once everything fell into place they needed a quick and reliable close. While I am happy to share that we closed on this home (represented buyer), I do so with a heavy heart. The plan was for sellers to find a replacement home (for fellow REALTOR peeps, sellers were not contingent on finding a replacement home to purchase fortunately for us, because we sold my client's previous home and closed weeks ago). Due to the crisis, sellers' employment was impacted and are now having to move into a rental It is difficult to celebrate because one shoul...d never wish ill will on another, so my clients and I have been praying for this family and truly wish them the best. . On the other hand, I am soooo thankful and feel extremely blessed to help my clients finally achieve their dream of owning a single family home and #upgrade out of #condoliving. With the help of my great partner Jason Pollington, his team, and the grace of God EVERYTHING literally fell into place for them. Today's #foodiefridayfeature is a favorite in #eastchulavista. I've featured this restaurant before, but it's worth a second share. We're doing our part to support small businesses and local restaurants to make sure our favorites are still around after all this craziness calms down. . Every time I've eaten at Pizzo's Pizzeria and Wine Bar, it's been for a dine in experience and have never been disappointed with any of their entrees. This time my husband went to just to pick... up some pizza for an easy dinner and it far exceeded our expectations! They are located in San Miguel Ranch, with a second location coming in Millenia. . Husband also got a cannoli that he said was really good, but of course he ate it before I could get a picture of it (he's been on the hunt for a good cannoli since he had an authentic one when he went to New York with his cousins to visit their Italian side of the family when he was younger - his cousins are half Italian, not him btw ) . . . This family's story started last year when an old friend/childhood friend of my husband's reached out & mentioned she & her family were exploring possibly upsizing their current home because they needed more space & always dreamed of having a single family home . Nothing makes me happier than to help anyone achieve their homeownership goals, but it makes it even more special when you are entrusted by people that you have a relationship with. . Due to their previous not-so-...pleasant homebuying experience, they were apprehensive to go down the road again. When we first spoke, I recommended that we start with just a meet & greet because I had never met her fiancé, and we'd be able to see if we were a good fit to work together. As with any new relationship, chemistry matters.. vibe matters.. Because this leads to the opportunity to earn one's trust. It's always my priority to ensure that clients feel comfortable working with me so I can earn their trust, which allows me to provide the best experience possible. . Luckily we hit it off! We were all excited to get started on the journey together. A few weeks later, I got the call that they decided to wait until the start of the year due to some unforeseen circumstances, which actually happens quite often. I encouraged them to take all the time they need & let them know I'd be ready for them whenever they were to get started. . A few months later, he called & said they were ready to go. We mapped out our plan and brought it to life. After only a weekend of open houses, I was able to present multiple offers & negotiate some extra time for them to remain in their home at no cost so they could search for their new home. We closed on their sale a few weeks ago and just closed on the purchase of their new home last Friday (more to come on that ) . Congratulations @erndogg07 and family on these amazing blessings!
