Chapter 3 of our Origin Story is out! In April of 2015 we opened the bakery. We had been using Whole Treats Bakery as a Gluten Free supplier and they were operating a GF bakery in this location. We partnered up, knocked down a few walls and built another so Liz could continue to make all her GF treats that Truckee had grown to love in the space. We rounded up the usual suspects of to take an old Dominio's pizza space and turn it into a Coffeebar & production bakery. Chapter 3 of the Coffeebar Origin Story is out today! Our story now leads us down the hill to Reno, then baking GF ideas in Truckee and living out some Olympic Dreams in the snow! We hope you enjoy! The modernist chandelier was constructed from a heap of broken metal chair legs from the Truckee store (thanks, Target). The dictionary tables were made with pages from the actual Italian dictionary that I used to name my first coffee company. The Lion mosaic, created from Italian tile, incorporated all the cups from my first coffee company. Toni from Mountain Forge built our steel bar and floor, and Cline from Roundwood Furniture constructed a beautiful inlaid bar above the stairs. Coffeebar Origins Story Chapter 2: A Cafe Grows in Truckee is out today! The journey from leaving Colorado, failing in LA and finding a gem on Jibboom street in Truckee, CA continues. As I peered into the window of the shuttered Jibboom Street coffee shop in 2010, my spark of excitement reignited. The following day I called the leasing agent. I knew in my heart that Truckee was not a consolation prize, but the place I was meant to start my company. I’ve opened 15 coffee sho...ps back in Colorado and I’m looking to do the same here in Truckee, I told him. It’s been a decade since Coffeebar first opened its doors as a bootstrapped, wing-and-a-prayer back alley cafe in Truckee, California. Since then, we’ve grown into a restaurant group with eight locations that span the Sierra to the Bay. Those ten years have been filled with adventures, memories and life lessons, and over the next few months I’d like to share some of those with youour highest highs and our lowest lows.
