Subtle but important movements! The patient wanted to straighten out the front teeth after orthodontic relapse. . With Invisalign, we’re able to not only straighten out misaligned teeth in a less conspicuous way with clear aligners, but we can also widen the dental arch form to a more ideal U shape vs. a narrower V shape. . By widening the upper and lower arches, we’re able to provide better smile esthetics, improve the way the upper and lower teeth come together, and also provide more airway room, which can improve breathing especially during sleep.

Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment is a very important part of our practice. That’s why we are proud to show our patients our Adec sterilization center during the new patient office tour. . The layout has been designed to prevent cross contamination between used and sterilized items. Used instruments start off in the red zone on the right side of the photo, and as they get cleaned and prepped to go into the autoclave for sterilization, they move toward the blue z...one on the far left where the sterilized instruments are stored for their next use. The autoclave is tested regularly to make sure it’s working properly to kill any/all germs . Before and After: Treatment of a large cavity with porcelain onlay (partial coverage crown). . Photo 1. The cavity is fairly large and deep. It’s also located in an area that would’ve been challenging to do a regular filling because of all the saliva/fluids from the cheek right next to the tooth. ... . Photo 2. The cavity is removed along with any other weakened tooth structure. A negative impression of the prepared tooth is taken and sent to the dental lab where a ceramist will be making the onlay restoration. . Photo 3. The onlay is fitted and adjusted for seamless margins and then bonded in permanently. The photo is a bit blurry, but this case turned out really nice and actually didn’t need any adjustments before bonding, thanks to our awesome ceramist, Jun, at Bennet Dental Lab! @ Downtown Los Angeles

This is a partial crown, also known as an inlay or onlay. Unlike regular fillings that are built directly in the mouth by the dentist, inlays/onlays are made outside of the mouth (indirect restoration) by a ceramist in a dental lab using an impression (mould) of the tooth. . There are several reasons that an indirect approach may be needed to treat a tooth. For this case, there was a large cavity on the last molar on the very back corner of the tooth that was difficult to ...access and would’ve been extremely challenging to isolate from moisture and saliva in order to do a well-bonded regular filling. . Once the indirect restoration has been made by the ceramist, the patient is called back for a second visit to try on the restoration. Some adjustments may be needed, but once the fit is checked and everything looks good, the restoration is chemically bonded on to the tooth. .
