A celebration of fine writing! Thursday, May 9th, 2019 at 5:00 p.m Shakespeare Garden, Valencia Campus... Calling All Creators! The English Department is proud to announce its 18th annual celebration of original writing by COC students, faculty, and staff: the Poets and Writers event. It is an opportunity for those who write to share with others their prose, poetry, or fiction and their passion for good writing! Please follow the Guidelines before submitting: Submissions are open from February 26th through 11:59pm, April 8th. You may submit up to four pieces Save your piece or pieces in one file (PDF, .doc, or .docx). You may include poetry and prose in the same submission. Please remove all identifying factors (name, email, contact information) from your submission. This contest is judged blindly--your submission will be disqualified if your name appears anywhere on your piece(s). Short stories or essays are limited to 1,500 words; please double-space your prose Works chosen must be read by the author at the Poets and Writers event on Thursday, May 9th, 2019 at 5:00 p.m., in the Shakespeare Garden, Valencia Campus You will receive a notification about your submission by Tuesday, April 23rd. Please encourage students to submit their work for this semester's Spring Student Symposium 2018! This is a campus-wide academic conference that is open to any currently-enrolled COC student. The theme is Human/Animal/Environmental Rights. Students can present research as a verbal presentation, academic poster presentation, or art piece. ... A message from SANTA CLARITA COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT All College of the Canyons classes beginning at 5 p.m. and later will be cancelled tonight (Dec. 5) on both the Valencia and Canyon Country campuses. Student services, including the Library, and the TLC, will remain open for normal hours to serve students remaining on campus.
