Sierra Nevada Media Group (SNMG), as a responsible community-oriented media company, recognized that the Nevada Tribes are an underserved group. The company cre...ated First Nation’s Focus (FNF) as a way to help fill the gap. SNMG would like this magazine to be a voice for the tribes. They need our help now. Attention Native Journalists: Sierra Nevada Media Group’s First Nation’s Focus Monthly Magazine focused on Nevada Tribes is looking for a Native Senior Journalist(s) interested in writing for and becoming the editor for the First Nation’s Focus. First Nation’s Focus tribal magazine is experiencing difficulty in finding a tribal journalist(s). FNF needs a journalist to seek out newsworthy articles, and submit the articles in a timely manner for publication deadlines. All qualified applicants please submit your resumé to: Mick Raher, Office Phone: 775-881-7326, [email protected]. The Sierra Nevada Media Group’s First Nation’s Focus Tribal Magazine was created and published for the Nevada Tribal people. This Magazine is designed to report newsworthy tribal news. It is written, produced and distributed to us at no cost. It has been noted that some of the articles are written by Non-Indian authors. I would really like to read articles regarding any legislation (proposed or pending) that impacts Native American Indians, Native American tribes, Native American tribal sovereignty, environment, lands, water, air, culture, burial rights and repatriation, art, etc. and possibly concerns regarding the reorganization of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and how it may impact the tribes. I believe, if we want this magazine to survive and be newsworthy, we all have to notify and offer news stories and leads to FNF. This magazine is meant to be for the people, about the people, by the people. The publication’s success depends on us notifying the FNF when newsworthy events are happening. Success takes both effort and action combined. Please work with Sierra Nevada Media Group to make this paper everything we want it to be, plus more. Valerie Meléndez RSIC Tribal Citizen My personal dream for all native peoples is to help the tribal communities become so financially independent, that they each become the lender, rather than the borrower.
