The people who knit, plus Michael Combbina, from Kaiser came to join us. He is the volunteer coordinator.
Our knitting group meets again, decorating dolls, knitting and crocheting blankets etc.
More photos from Elks club tour.
Our October field trip was a tour of the Elks Club grounds in San Rafael where Marcie Miller, a Marin historian told us about Louise Boyd and her adventures and life.
The second Tuesday of every month at noon is our meeting day and lately we have been doing it by Zoom. This week we welcomed our fabulous new Branch Manager at the Corte Madera Library, Stephanie Hartwell-Mandella. We all enjoyed getting to know her and finding out what will be new at the library. Here we are below in a zoom photo.
Linda's 90th field trip was a gentle walk around Dominican University in San Rafael. Katharine Hermann, a landscape architect, identified many trees and plants and talked about the benefits and uses.
We are meeting in the park now due to the virus. Every month we all are amazed at how many knitted blankets, hats and scarves are donated to Kaiser, Marin Health and the Ritter center.
We now have our monthly meetings on Zoom, and as always the second Tuesday of every month (except July and August). Let us know if you want to learn how to use Zoom or just ask for an invitation to join us!
We had our monthly meeting of the knitting group in the park yesterday. What a prolific group this month! One member knit 28 hats for Kaiser to distribute to cancer patients or babies. Another knit a dozen cuddly blankets for those in hospice or with dementia to have something to hold on to. Another member dressed a doll in a bespoke dress and hat. These dolls are comforting to those with dementia or needing a hand to hold. We all wore masks, socially distanced ourselves and sat in the sun or the shade to enjoy each other's company. Linda brought a rock project for all to do if they liked. When you draw on these rocks with a grease pencil it lasts for many years in the garden or on a desktop. The knitted blankets and doll were taken to Nazareth house for donations.
Today Jana led a few of us on a walking tour of Old Corte Madera. With our masks on we stepped back in time into the 20s when the train stopped on the square and the bay waters were only a few blocks away. Picnic lunch serenaded by an impromptu concert in the Piccolo Pavilion followed.
Linda's production of blankets for this month. Listening to audible books sure helps get things done. More gold rocks to thank those who are in the knitting group!
Another meeting of the knitting group in a more comfortable spot than the park or even zoom: the gazebo in Menke park! Thank you to all who knitted cuddly blankets to donate to a senior residence in Mill Valley.
Yes, we have field trips during this time, social distancing and masked! Met at Menke Park for a historical tour of Corte Madera led by Jana Haehl, our knowledgeable historian. Lunch afterward in the gazebo.
On Thursday the knitting group sat in Town Park to spend 2 hours knitting! We will be meeting in the park on the third Thursday of the month all through the next three months.
