Plant power outage last night at the office. Power came back up and Slony replicated all the backup data with no hiccups.

Took forever to line up all the ducks and did the migration. It ended up we just uninstalled and reinstalled the Slony Postgres cluster. There was a little problem with the SSL database connection, it turns out IPTABLE was blocking the outbound connection. Who knew...fixed all the bugs and the parts list are being feed to the production server and the sale order to the SL server. All the cron jobs have been tested and one last thing to do is emails...the least favor part...

So close...fixing bunch of bugs related to starting a pg_conn in osCommerce...now on to paperless invoice where osCommerce calls the SL API to generate the PDF invoice...

Still working on SL and osCommerce integration bugs fix. Also, we use to use SL's API to query onhand count; however, it is a lot slower to pass Perl variables into PHP. We are going to go ahead and replace the API with DBD-pg and query the SL database directly in native PHP environment. The query within the PHP environment is a lot quicker; and we feel comfortable enough with the database schema to do that...afterall, we have been using SL and osCommerce for almost 10 years.

As with any upgrade, there will always be bugs that need to be addressed one at a time. So fixed a few other things, today it is to setup the slave SQL-Ledger on the osCommerce server as SL has a great feature in PDF invoice and we took advantage of that to offer real time online invoice download for our customers. In a way how it works is that once we have shipped an order, and when an invoice is generated, it would get replicated to the osCommerce server. So the customers can download the paperless invoice. Yeah, we tap into the SL API to get the real time paperless invoice.

Quick recap...need to reinstall Postgress as there was package dependency for Easy Apache recompile. The local install 8.3.3 no bueno as Easy Apache can't find the libraries to compile in php-pgsql. Probably okay to figure out where Easy Apache is looking for the libraries and link the 8.3's in, but too much troubles...

Thank goodness for EasyApache...Soap not compiled in...doing that right now...as Fedex WSDL requires it for address validation and RateServices...
