This week Clovis Fire took possession of our new OES Type 3 Engine (OES 5306). Like our current OES Type 1 Engine, OES 5306 is provided by the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and is housed, maintained, and staffed by Clovis Fire. These engines are available to be deployed year-round to all types of emergencies throughout the state. Clovis Firefighters are dedicated to not only providing service to our community, but to the citizens of California. OES 5306 will be housed at Fire Station 5 located at Temperance and Alluvial. #servicewithpride

Now that you have changed your clocks for for #DaylightSavingsTime, take the extra hour to practice your home fire escape plan and make sure your all of your sm...oke alarms are working. Even though you may be gaining an hour, you still only have three minutes or less to escape a home fire. Plan ahead! A few simple steps could save your life: - Have working smoke alarms. - Create and practice a fire escape plan. - #CloseBeforeYouDoze #SmokeAlarmsSaveLives

All week long your Clovis Firefighters spent time conducting Rapid Intervention Crew Operations training. This type of training focuses on the rescue of a downed Firefighter in a mayday situation. Specifically, crews focused on ways to deliver supplemental air to a downed Firefighter, as well as, rescuing a Firefighter who has fallen through the floor. #servicewithpride

Clovis Fire still has personnel committed to the Creek Fire. Currently, we have a Safety Officer and a Heavy Equipment Boss. Attached you will find a video where Captain Chris Bridger talks about some of the work they’re currently performing. I just want to acknowledge the outstanding work of the Clovis Fire Department Command Staff who really made this happen. We put a lot of effort into our grant application. Being only one of the few accredited Fire agencies in California and using good data I am sure really helped through the process. This will enable the department to put another three person engine company in service at no additional cost from our residents. Improving public safety has always been a priorit...y for the Clovis City Council and I am so happy that we could accomplish this together. Great work everyone!!! John Binaski Fire Chief

Most of you, if not all of you, are aware of what has been going on in our state this fire season. We have witnessed devastating fire, after devastating fire across all regions of California. This year, the largest single fire has burned 305,000+ acres (still burning, Creek Fire) and the largest complex fire has burned over 900,000 acres (still burning, August Complex). Year after year, season after season, your Clovis Firefighters continue to rise to the occasion and lend a... helping hand to our neighbors throughout CA. This year, the beautiful SNF and SQF, our backyard, our mountain community, were the ones who needed the help. Once again, your Clovis Firefighters answered the call. In total, we sent 2-Type 1 engines, 1-Type 1 OES engine, 1- Type 3 engine, 1 heavy equipment boss, 1 radio technician, and 1 field observer to the Creek Fire and Castle Fire. #servicewithpride is something you see on virtually every post we make. Over the past 3 weeks, our members have shown immense pride in what it truly means to serve. We are here for you, we are proud to serve you, and we are grateful for your support!

*Update on our crews working multiple fires around the state* Engine 40 remains assigned to the Creek Fire. At 16 days, the original crew was swapped out with 3 fresh personnel and remain assigned. Engine 45 remains assigned to the Creek Fire as well, and is currently on their 21st day of their assignment. Yesterday, Brush Engine 40 returned home safely after spending 21 days assigned to the Castle/SQF Complex. In addition to our Brush Engine returning home yesterday, OES 390’s crew was swapped with 3 fresh personnel on the 21st day of their deployment. OES 390 remains assigned to the Creek Fire. We also have multiple members out on single resource assignments committed to fires in California. With red flag warnings in effect and temperatures heating up this week, fire danger remains extremely high. #servicewithpride
