What a cool idea to keep plastic bags out of our oceans!

Today on #WorldOceansDay we are committed more than ever to protect and heal our precious bodies of water. Although we are humbled and inspired by the vastness and overwhelming beauty of our Oceans, we are also in tune with our community and its challenges. The intricacy and connectivity of every living creature on this planet will always serve as a constant example of how we must connect to coexist. Only together can we accomplish the task at hand, restore, renew, and rejuvenate our most vital resource.

We at CleanLB join our voices to those condemning the killing of Ahmad Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and those countless other victims of racist violence. We call upon our leaders and public servants to fulfill their oaths to protect the lives and dignity of us all and to loudly and unequivocally state that Black Lives Matter. We started this beach clean up a decade ago based on the idea that as a community we can come together to solve our problems. It was never just about picking up styrofoam or cigarette butts (although we’ve picked up tons of each). We are stronger when we stand in solidarity. We can get more done when we work together. We can make a better Long Beach and a better world when we acknowledge that an injury to one is an injury to all.

Hello friends. We are cancelling our monthly beach cleanup until further notice. We believe it’s the best course of action for the safety of our volunteers and our team. We hope you stay healthy and safe.

We are canceling our March beach cleanup up due to the expected rain and the recommendations of public health officials to avoid large gatherings. We have only canceled one other clean up in the past 10 years. Please stay safe and we will see you soon.

It was a beautiful and cloudy morning at today's cleanup! Thank you for coming out to pick up and celebrate 9 years of taking care of our local beach. Over the last 9 years we've collectively removed over 11 TONS of trash. That's over 1 ton of trash each year we've been doing this. There is power is numbers!
