It’s trimming week for our online class students! Trimming is the process of cleaning up the bottom of pottery to make it smooth, more cleaned up, and more complete/finished looking and feeling. The first image is of instructor Todd ( @toddpletcher ) prepping to trim a piece and the second image is trimming in progress. Todd is even showing his students how they can add decoration to pieces by carving lines on the sides of the pot! There’s just something about wet and leather hard clay that is so inviting. The clay is so alive at that point and ready to be molded into whatever shape and form you desire, though it can sometimes be difficult. A mentor of ours always said, clay has a way of humbling you.
