Homeowners noted that more space, an updated kitchen, and a home gym are the top things they would change about their home to make it more livable.

None of us can predict the future market but the outlook and interpretation will depend if you are a Buyer or a Seller. When the shelter in place (SIP) order came in, the initial shock and "what happens now" for the first couple of weeks became an advantage for Buyers who were already active in the market. At the same time, the SIP order had Sellers, who didn't need to sell, pull back from listing their homes. As a result, the already low inventory shortage became lower. Then... the Sellers who did and do decide to list their homes were unwilling to lower their prices to attract Buyers and listed with price transparency. Now that the SIP order is easing, businesses are safely reopening, and the market is proving to remain strong. I don't believe prices will plummet or drop significantly as home prices appear to remain steady. Foreclosures will not become prevalent in the next few months because banks are and have implemented steps to assist those who are affected. In addition, many homeowners in the Bay Area have plenty of equity in their homes and would be unwilling to walk away vs in 2008 when the home values were lower than what borrowers owed. Instead they would be more proactive in approaching the lenders if they do need a workout plan. Again I don't know where we will be in the next 6months but sharp recessions that recover quickly enough provide little damage to home prices. See more
