It was fitting that a week after our 45th anniversary that the man that came up with the whole concept and brought it to Bakersfield came to visit us. Stuart McKenzie was the godfather, the genius that put this all together. He started Sub Station. My Dad Bruce Browne, Stuart's brother Keith, Jim Lajoie were all partners. After almost 50 years, 4 of the places he opened are still in operation. Sub Station Riverside, Sub Station 20th st., City Sandwich Company Mt.Vernon, Sub Station Stockdale . It was great seeing him and his daughter, Sarah.

Today we celebrated 45 years in business. It was a great and very busy day. This was the first anniversary without our Fearless Leader, Dad Bruce. He would be proud of how we have carried on and how we have persevered in these trying days. We excelled today and every day until it's time to stop. Thank you to our many great and loyal customers and the great employees we've had through the years. Our great crew is ready to serve you and provide great sandwiches and a great price with great service you have known since Day #1.

It's days like this that makes us very encouraged and feel blessed! With all the Negatives out there, we got Positives today.
