The City of Yorba Linda is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tommy Lasorda, former manager of the world series winning Los Angeles Dodgers from 1976 to 1996, and a member of the baseball Hall of Fame. With his wife, Jo, the Lasorda family has long been connected to the Yorba Linda community. After the passing of their son, Thomas Lasorda Jr., they decided to build a recreation center in his memory. The Lasordas donated $500,000 raised through the Thomas Lasorda Jr. F...oundation to the City of Yorba Linda to help build the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House, which opened in 1997. Since then, the Lasordas have continued their commitment to the community, including funding the initial and now annual Celebration of the Arts, the Senior Transportation program (T.R.A.I.L.S. bus), and investing in the ongoing maintenance of the Field House’s infrastructure. The generosity and support of the Lasorda family and the Thomas Lasorda Jr. Foundation has deeply enriched Yorba Linda, and our hearts to go out to Jo and the rest of the Lasorda family. See more

On November 5 at 1:45am, an alert security officer reported a burglary in progress at a retail store at the 18300 block of Imperial Highway in Yorba Linda. Responding deputies located two suspect vehicles described by the security officer, a gray BMW and white Ford Mustang. Deputies stopped the BMW and five adult males and one male juvenile were taken into custody and stolen property was recovered. Deputies requested the assistance of the Anaheim Police Department, who respo...nded, located and pursued the Mustang for a short distance. OCSD's helicopter located the Mustang and followed it on Orange County freeways until CHP's helicopter and ground units arrived to assist. OCSD, CHP and Los Angeles County Sheriff helicopters, along with ground units, followed the vehicle as it reached speeds of 150mph, to the termination point in the city of Gardena. Three adult males and one male juvenile fled on foot, but were located and taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed stolen merchandise. See more
