Road Maintenance Work Planned for Oberlin Ave From January 19-21, Public Works staff will peform road repair work on Oberlin ave between Corvallis street and Purdue street. Residents will have the ability to drive to/from their homes during the work, but should exercise caution and reduce speeds. Staff will notify residents if vehicles parked on the street need to be temporarily moved. Work performed by Public Works staff is in preparation for future slurry seal work that will be accomplished by a contractor later in the year.

The San Leandro City Council voted unanimously to appoint Council Member Victor Aguilar as Vice Mayor for the 2021 calendar year. Reflecting upon the appointment, Vice Mayor Aguilar stated, "The City Council's action makes me the first LGBTQ+ and LatinX male in San Leandro's history to serve as Vice Mayor. I am proud to serve the constituents of this city. It is with their ongoing support, I am able to help push this city forward."

Advisory Message: PG&E Public Safety Shutoff potentially set for Oct 25, 2020, thru Oct 26, 2020 Due to anticipated high winds, low humidity, dry vegetation, and lack of rainfall, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) have notified us of a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) starting as early as 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 25th, and lasting through Monday, October 26th. According to the PG&E website, limited areas east of 580 in San Leandro that may be impacted. The City’s ...Emergency Operations Center has been activated and is in constant communication with the Alameda County Office of Emergency Services and PG&E. We will provide necessary updates as more information becomes available. To see if you are affected by the PSPS and additional information regarding generalized impacted areas and Community Resource Centers please visit: https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/updates/. You can also text "PSPS" to 211-211 to get updated information related to PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoffs. Community Resources Centers (CRC) will be set up by PG&E at Formosan United Methodist Church, at 788 Lewelling Boulevard, Merritt College in Oakland, and the UC Berkeley Campus. Snacks and device charging capabilities will be available at the centers. Public Health COVID guidelines will be adhered to, including social distancing and wearing masks. Chabot Park will be closed Sunday and Monday unless weather conditions change. Please use caution when proceeding through those intersections and watch for other motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Also, as a reminder, please use extreme caution when you are outdoors. Construction is complete for the new Filarmonica Artista Amadora de San Leandro building at 844 Alvarado Street. This state-of-the-art facility is tied to the March 2019 approved housing development project at 915 Antonio Street. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Last week, the 28-member Community Advisory Budget Task Force held their first meeting. The meeting included an overview of the task force’s work plan and a high-level staff presentation of the City budget. Given the complexities of the City budget and proposed outcomes, the task force will have a rigorous schedule of meetings approximately twice per month from now through at least March. The task force will subsequently forward their recommendations to the City Council to help inform its actions related to the City budget.
