Reopening of the Basketball Court at Fernandez Park Dedicated to David Patrick Underwood At its meeting on July 21, 2020, the City Council approved naming the basketball court at Fernandez Park after David Patrick Underwood, a well-respected Pinole resident and community member who was tragically killed in May 2020 while providing security for the federal court building in Oakland. Community partners collaborated with City staff to repaint the basketball court in Mr. Underwood’s memory, which was unveiled at a small event on October 3, 2020. The basketball court is now open to the public, as are other courts and equipment in City parks, per the County’s current coronavirus status and guidelines.

Development Opportunities in Old Town Pinole! The City is selling four sites in Old Town Pinole zoned for mixed-use residential and commercial development. These infill sites are a great placemaking opportunity. The properties were originally purchased by the former Pinole Redevelopment Agency, and are being sold to comply with a 2012 State law that dissolved redevelopment agencies statewide. Please visit https://www.ci.pinole.ca.us//economic/available_properties to view the offering memorandum for more information.
