Did you know that drug-impaired driving is one of the toughest driving safety challenges the City of Menifee Police Department faces? The Governors Highway Safety Association found that in 2016, more drivers killed in crashes tested positive for drugs (44%) than alcohol (38%). Unknown to most, driving under the influence of drugs is a crime - even if your impairment is due to prescribed medications, illicit drugs, over-the-counter medications, or marijuana. When taking presc...riptions or over-the-counter medications, be sure to check the label and talk to your physician. Any mention of of not driving or side effects that cause brain or physical impairment while taking the medication should be taken seriously. The City of Menifee Police Department understands the danger of driving under the influence of substances. Menifee PD has made over over 70 arrests for DUI since July 1, 2020. As a result, Menifee PD is increasing measures to address the issue of drug-impaired driving by introducing new check points throughout the city and training its officers to detect drug-impaired drivers. The City of Menifee and the Menifee Police Department would like to remind you to only drive if you are physically and mentally able to do so. Drive safe, Menifee. #Menifee #DriveSafeMenifee #MenifeeCares #ItsNotWorthIt
