The City of La Mirada and EDCO Disposal are sponsoring a free Mulch, Paper Shredding, and E-Waste Collection event this Saturday, October 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot of the La Mirada Community Gymnasium. Safety guidelines outlined by the Department of Public Health will be followed at this event, including requiring a face covering and social distancing between participants. The City of La Mirada will be offering free WiFi service for students seeking internet access for schoolwork beginning Monday, October 5th at the La Mirada Activity Center. The service will be available from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult. COVID-19 safety guidelines outlined by the Department of Public Health will be in place, including social distancing. Space is limited. For more information, please call (562) 902-3160.

The City of La Mirada has approved a Small Business Relief Program for businesses who have been impacted by COVID-19. The program offers one-time grants up to a maximum of $5,000 to approximately 35 eligible small businesses. The relief funds come from CARES Act funds received by the City and may be used to assist business owners with payroll, capital or equipment expenses, and operational costs including utilities, loan, lease and mortgage payments. If more than 35 businesses are eligible, they will be selected by a lottery system. Applications will be accepted starting on Monday, October 5 through 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 9. To commemorate the City’s 60th Anniversary, the City has updated the La Mirada History Tour with signage at various locations throughout La Mirada.
