Attention Skaters! The City of King has been awarded $150,000 to replace all the ramps in the City’s Skate Park located at San Antonio Park. The City Council recently approved a contract with American Ramp Company to design and construct the improvements. As part of the process, they will be involving local skateboarders and interested community members in the ramp design process. The first workshop will take place on Wednesday, January 13th at 4:00 p.m. on Zoom. We... will host a survey on the City's website and social media in the next few weeks. The project is part of a focused effort to upgrade the City’s existing recreation facilities for youth and everyone in the community. Construction is projected to take place in spring and be completed by June 2021. For more information, contact the Recreation Department at 385-6748 or at [email protected]

Please share. We are opening a shelter tomorrow morning at 8AM in King City at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. There will be room for large animals. There is ro...om for RV’s. The team at @salinasvalleyfair has been amazing in helping us get this stood up. I want to thank our county team for making this happen in conjunction with TJ and the team at the fairgrounds and the @spcamc . Evacuation Shelter to Open at Salinas Valley Fairgrounds Monterey County is expanding its evacuation shelters to south Monterey County. Due to additional evacuations from the River Fire, an evacuation shelter is being opened at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division Street in King City. The shelter will open Sunday morning, August 23rd at 8 am and will provide sleeping and meal accommodations. The shelter will be able to accommodate approximately 40 residents and will follow COVID-19 protocols. Evacuees should have face coverings when entering the shelter and be prepared to social distance. Shelter sleeping arrangements are being set up with COVID-19 health protocols. Temperature checks will be taken for everyone’s safety. Evacuees who wish to shelter using their RVs can bring them to the fairground and check in at the shelter. This shelter will be able to accommodate evacuees with pets. Due to its long distance from other animal sheltering facilities and because the shelter is located at a site with animal housing available, fairgrounds staff and volunteers worked collaboratively with the SPCA of Monterey County and have supplies and equipment ready to house both pets and larger animals. Here is a list of all county evacuation shelters: Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division Street, King City Carmel Middle School, 4380 Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel Sherwood Hall, 940 North Main Street, Salinas Monterey Conference Center, 1 Portola Plaza, Monterey The County also has an evacuation center at the King City Library, 402 Broadway, which provides information and support, snacks, water and charging for devices for evacuee. It is open 8 am to 8 pm.

Our Radar Trailer is finally ready to deploy! The King City Police Department will be placing the speed radar trailer in various locations throughout King City,... depending on such variables as previous history of motor vehicle accidents, requests from the public and frequent speeding citations. While traffic enforcement through visible patrols and traffic citations remains an important component of our overall traffic safety strategy, the use of our new speed radar trailer bolsters our efforts to reduce speeding through education. Residents who would like the speed radar trailer placed in their neighborhoods are encouraged to submit a request (complaint) to the police department or City Hall (CUSTOMER SERVICE REQUEST FORM POSTED SEPARATELY). Residents can also submit their request form by sending it to [email protected] ******************************************************************* ¡Nuestro Radar está finalmente listo para desplegar!
