Keep yourself safe from Scams! Scammers are out in force trying to steal your money and identity. We have seen an uptick in this type of crime, and unfortunately, some of you have fallen victim to these predators. Recently, Clayton residents have reported receiving phone calls from what appears to be the Clayton police department’s non-emergency phone number, (925) 673-7350 with the caller threatening to arrest the person unless they send money. If you receive a call like th...is, hang up and call our non-emergency line at (925) 673-7350, we will be able to validate that the call is a scam. Scammers might pretend to be law enforcement or a federal agency. They might say you’ll be arrested, fined, or deported if you don’t pay what they demand right away. The goal is to scare you into paying. Real law enforcement and federal agencies won’t call and threaten you. Law enforcement will NEVER ask you for money to avoid arrest.
