The County reached an important milestone Monday that enables schools to open on-site learning for grades TK through 6. The key factor is the County's sustained adjusted case rate of under 25 new cases per 100,000 people for five consecutive days, which meets the State's requirements for reopening, provided schools are in full compliance with State and County directives. The criteria for reopening grades 7 through 12 will be met when the County's case rate drops below seven per 100,000 people. For more information, go to: publichealth.lacounty.gov.

The City of Claremont has made the difficult decision to cancel the Candy Cane Lane event scheduled for December 12, 2020. While the event’s format was a car drive through, the event would have involved staff interaction with participants and countered the Order’s intent to stay at home unless engaging in essential activities. The decision was made in accordance with the Governor’s Stay at Home Order issued Friday, December 4, 2020 for Southern California. Additionally, Los Angeles County has recommended cancelling car parades and prohibits all gatherings in the revised Safer at Home Health Order issued December 6, 2020. The City does not take this decision lightly, but we must consider the safety of the participants and staff. The City would like to thank The Claremont Colleges for their support of this event.
