Today marks 6 months since we were forced to drastically change our business due to the COVID19 pandemic. Live events employ over 12 million people. Live events contributes over $1 trillion annually to the US economy. 95% of live events have been cancelled due to COVID-19.... 96% of companies have cut staff and/or wages. 77% of people in the live events industry have lost 100% of their income, including 97% of 1099 workers. Today we are thinking of all of our industry family, friends, clients and colleagues devastated by this situation. #wemakeevents #redalertrestart #ExtendPUA
The problem is that white people see racism as conscious hate, when racism is bigger than that. Racism is a complex system of social and political levers and pulleys set up generations ago to continue working on the behalf of whites at other people’s expense, whether whites know/like it or not. Racism is an insidious cultural disease. It is so insidious that it doesn’t care if you are a white person who likes black people; it’s still going to find a way to infect how you dea...l with people who don’t look like you. Yes, racism looks like hate, but hate is just one manifestation. Privilege is another. Access is another. Ignorance is another. Apathy is another. And so on. So while I agree with people who say no one is born racist, it remains a powerful system that we’re immediately born into. It’s like being born into air: you take it in as soon as you breathe. It’s not a cold that you can get over. There is no anti-racist certification class. It’s a set of socioeconomic traps and cultural values that are fired up every time we interact with the world. It is a thing you have to keep scooping out of the boat of your life to keep from drowning in it. I know it’s hard work, but it’s the price you pay for owning everything. - Author Scott Woods - #blacklivesmatter #ablm #blm #love #justice #racism #equality #equity #unity #humanrights #losangeles #endracism #loveislove #activism #listen #learn #educate @ Los Angeles, California See more
When you open your grocery kits this week, you will find oranges and avocados . Here is why! :: With restaurant chains, and other large hospitality businesses closed, food distributors are no longer receiving the bulk orders they did a few weeks ago. As a result, in many cases farmers have no other option but to turn fresh produce into mulch. ::... This is why we are working with our food distributors to select items available in abundance. This helps us save money, allows us to provide more grocery kits, and helps the farming community and food industry workforce! :: If you haven’t already registered for a grocery kit, head over to www.eventla.org and register! :: #eventla #saveliveevents #eventlafoodbank #events #dtla #wecare #timetocometogether #timetopivot #unprecedentedtimes #unprecedentedsolutions #showbiz #covid19 #covid19solutions #entertainmentindustry #eventindustry #LosAngeles See more
