Important update about Sunday services at CityLight: We aim to minister to everyone's needs and provide a safe, comfortable environment in which to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Starting tomorrow, the 9:00 a.m. service will require face masks, and the 11:00 a.m. service will be masks optional. We continue to work hard to reduce risk and provide for people's safety by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing before, in between and after services, and we encourage every...one to make use of the several hand sanitizer stations placed throughout the building. We enacted these enhanced cleaning protocols at the start of the pandemic to build on our existing, effective cleaning standards, and we appreciate everyone's efforts to create a safe, welcoming environment in which we can all focus on Jesus. We look forward to seeing all of you Sunday! "Let us firmly hold the profession of our faith without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. ... Let us not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but let us exhort one another, especially as you see the Day approaching." Heb. 10:23,25 See more

God has guided our church on quite the journey in the last few years, answering thousands of prayers in the process. Every Christmas, we like to reflect on those blessings and give a Christmas gift to Jesus through a specific offering. This is a special way we can expand our ministries to keep sharing the Gospel with more people. If you look around the church at things in the building that are currently being used to serve people, those are likely part of a past Christmas Gif...t for Jesus Offering. This year's gift will be going toward enhancing the rooms that serve our CityLight Student Ministry, which has grown tremendously in the last few years. Please join us in prayer for these kids and ministry leaders, that they grow in faith in this safe and fun environment, learn about the Bible and Jesus, and build lasting friendships with each other. We say "thank you" so casually to people for small things and yet we don't always remember to stop and thank God for all the small and big ways He blesses our lives, including during challenging times where we can't see exactly how He's working things for good. Take a moment today to pray with childlike faith (Matt. 18:2-4) and with the fervor Pastor Nick preached about from the Book of James (James 5:13-16) recently to open your heart to the Holy Spirit.

Today we wrap up the book of James. Who among you will help rescue the wanderers? Brothers, if any one of you strays from the truth and someone corrects him, let him know that he who converts the sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins James 5:19-20

The Bible is the essential "life skills" book for grown-ups and kids alike. CityKids classes at CityLight are designed to help kids develop character, faith, integrity and more through age-appropriate activities, games and lessons. Best of all, they can create friendships to help them through difficult times. But continue in the things that you have learned and have been assured of, knowing those from whom you have learned them, and that since childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through the faith that is in Christ Jesus." 2 Tim. 3:14-15

Starting next Sunday, December 13th we'll be shifting from livestreaming to providing the sermon recordings on multiple platforms. You can watch CityLight sermons on Roku TV, subscribe to our YouTube channel and access our sermon series archive on our website. If you missed a sermon in the James series we're in right now, for example, you can catch up today at https://www.citylightla.church/sermons. Whether we're gathering with friends and family in person or on screen, we're of one accord in worshiping Christ. "Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether or not I come and see you, I may hear of your activities, that you are standing fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the gospel." Phil. 1:27

Life should be lived with a focus on God, shared together with God’s people.

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone merry? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:13-15 MEV

When it feels like all eyes are on you, like the spotlight is revealing everything about you and you're not sure if you're up for what you need to do next, remember God is with you and has equipped you with everything you need. Look to Him for your strength. Focus on Him to guide you, redeem you and mold you into something new. Follow Him to victory. Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the sheep, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen." Heb. 13:20-21

The Bible talks about music and singing as forms of praise, declaration, celebration and worship. These are ways we can share our testimony. What worship song do you feel reflects your testimony and what God has done in your life? My lips will rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, which You have redeemed." Ps. 71:23
