Pleasant surprise this morning as Capt. Aaron Terry and Engineer Christopher Fetner were awarded the San Gabriel Fire Department Meritorious Service Medal for their actions this past September at the North Complex Fire in Butte and Pluma County. Captain Terry and Engineer Fetner, as part of a Rapid Extrication Module Support team (REMS), saved the life of a fellow firefighter who suffered a medical emergency (allergic reaction) while combating a wildfire. Because of thei...r expert knowledge in Paramedicine (administration of the life-saving drug), Urban Search & Rescue and emergency rope systems, they were able to extricate the firefighter by lowering him down an extremely steep mountain using such a rope system. They then hiked/carried the firefighter in a stretcher to a cleared area and ultimately hoisted the firefighter into a helicopter. The firefighter was transported to the hospital and stabilized. It is the opinion of the San Gabriel Fire Department the affected firefighter is alive today because of their actions. Congratulations gentlemen. We are proud of you! See more

Good Morning! Tonight is the last night Santa travels in his Fire Sleigh thru the city. Tonight’s quadrant is the NORTHEAST portion of the city and will run from 5:30pm to approximately 9:30pm. This is the area NORTH of the railroad tracks to Longden Avenue and from Del Mar Avenue, east to Willard Avenue. Merry Christmas!

This is the area NORTH of the railroad tracks to Longden Ave and from Del Mar Ave, west to Alhambra Rd. Merry Christmas and remember to follow the city’s guidelines on social distancing.

Good morning! Tonight is Night 2 of 4 of Santa’s Fire Sleigh. Tonight’s portion is in the SOUTHEAST quadrant of the city. This is the area SOUTH of the railroad tracks to the 1-10 Fwy and from Del Mar Ave, EAST to Charlotte Ave. Remember to follow the city’s guidelines regarding social distancing.

*WEATHER PERMITTING* Tonight is the first of 4 nights of Santa’s Fire Sleigh making it’s way thru the city. From 5:30pm-9:30pm, Santa will be in the SOUTHWEST quadrant of our city! Remember: 1 Santa encourages everyone to gather with their own household. 2 Be sure to stay within your house. This can include your front yard.... 3 Please physically distance from those outside of your own household and do not gather in groups with those outside of your immediate household. 4 If you are outside of your household, please wear a mask Dec. 20. Southwest: This is the area south of the railroad tracks to the I-10 FWY and from Del Mar Avenue, west to New Avenue. PLEASE NOTE: Santa’s Sleigh travels through the INCORPORATED borders of the City of San Gabriel. Periodically and for ease of travel, Santa’s sleigh will travel thru an unincorporated section of San Gabriel County in order to return to his route.
