Michael Donner is a true hero of heroes. He is a retired firefighter with the Oakland Fire Department. He volunteered after 9/11 in New York City in 2001. In 2005, he drove water to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. Then in 2018, his daughter was in Chico when the Paradise Fire broke out. He was so moved by the devastation and destruction, he had to do something. Through Lamorinda Families he collected over $50K in donations, collected tons of food, clothes and other esse...ntials which he dropped off on 4 different occasions which helped over 250 families. One story of how wonderful Lamorinda is to him, he recalled a mother who needed size 17 shoes for her son. Donner was in doubt he could get it but he posted the need anyways. The next morning, there were 3 pairs that appeared at his doorstep. He was very moved by the giving spirit of our community which continues to rally around various causes during times of need. Donner has volunteered thousands of hours of working with the school district, mentoring youth, on the board of directors for the Orinda-Moraga Fire District, and various other things in the community. He is also a single father who wants to remind everyone to take the time to appreciate the simple things in life. Currently, He is fundraising and gathering new socks, underwear, toiletries, water, Gatorade, Ensure, cash and gift cards. I will be delivering directly to shelters, fire victims, first responders affected by the LNU Fire, CZU Fire, SCU Fire.
