November 5, 2020 (12:30 PM) Traffic on US-50 near Echo Summit (Echo Cut area) was held temporarily by Caltrans with the assistance of CHP to detonate a boulder on the roadway. Caltrans drilled several holes in the boulder and detonated it moments after. True professionals! Special thanks to Officer Smyrski for narrating and Officer Moore for risking his iPhone for the incredible detonation shot!

October 22, 2020 CAN YOU SEE THE BICYCLIST? October is pedestrian safety month. We wanted to remind everyone to drive safe and not drive distracted. Keep an eye out for pedestrians crossing the street and for bicyclists out on the road. Leave a safe distance of not less than three (3) feet between the vehicle and the bicyclist and maintain such clearance until safely past the bicycle. Stay off your cellphone while driving until you get to your destination, it’s not worth... it, and it can wait. This bicyclist was actually traveling in the middle of the road before I spoke with him. He also chose the worst riding clothing I have ever seen. He blends in with the forest perfectly. When bicycle riding, wear bright colored clothing, stay out of the roadway, and use bright flashing lights so you can be seen. #CHP #BeSafeBeSeen #NeonIsCool #UseALight #RideSafeDriveSafe #WatchOutForPeds
October 21, 2020 October is pedestrian safety month! Autumn is in full bling, and California’s trees are having their moment. For leaf-peepers, it’s their time to see trees like aspen, maple and black oak. The leaves are at peak color right now, especially in Alpine County. ... Lookout for the photographers and admirers. They’re usually in the middle of the road gazing at Mother Nature. Watch your speed on SR-88 and do not drive distracted. If you’re taking photos or looking at nature, stay out of the roadway. Thanks. #CHP #photography #autumnishere #DontDriveDistracted #DontStandInTheRoad #ItsNotWorthIt #GoogleLeaves #DangerousHobby #WatchOutForPeds
