!!!Traffic Update!!! US 101 just south of Dean Creek is now open. All lanes are clear. Remember to check your equipement and watch for hazards in the road.

On October 16, 2020, at approximately 0620 hours, a 3 axle tractor towing a 53 foot flat deck trailer loaded with cut lumber, was traveling southbound on US-101, south of the Redwood off-ramp, in the #3 lane. For reasons still under investigation, the trailer of the combination released from the tractor and collided with the roadway rendering the trailer unmovable. The obstruction closed the #2 and #3 lanes of US-101 southbound. The #1 lane remains opened for through traffic. The #2 and #3 lanes will be closed until approximately 0900 hours for vehicle recovery. Please use caution when passing through the area, slow for the lanes closed and pass with care.

Come join the CHP Family! Interested or have a background in commercial vehicles? The examination cycle for Motor Carrier Specialist (MCS) has now opened. A Mot...or Carrier Specialist plays a vital role within our commercial section at the California Highway Patrol. An MCS is assigned to work all over California and travel to the facilities where commercial vehicles are based. There they check for proper vehicle maintenance and verify driver testing for controlled substances and alcohol as well as checking carriers for hazardous materials transportation requirements. Carrier Specialists make recommendations to motor carriers regarding improvement in procedures and practices. They will regularly perform inspections and evaluations of school buses, public paratransit vehicles, and various commercial vehicles such as farm labor vehicles, buses, trucks, truck-tractors, pull-trailers, and semi-trailers. The MCS is crucial in helping maintain our California roadways safe from dangerous and unkept commercial vehicles. All those interested have until the final filing date of October 22nd to apply for the examination process. The MCS examination is offered once per calendar year, make sure to submit your application on time. !!! Update !!! Alderpoint Road is temporarily closed at Wallan Road due to a brush fire. Alderpoint Road remains closed to all traffic between Dyerville Loop Road and SR36. Fort Seward Road remains closed at Dyerville Loop Road. Bell Springs Road Road remains closed at the Humboldt / Mendocino County line. ... !!! Traffic Update !!! The Alderpoint Road closure has been moved from Redwood Drive to Dyerville Loop Road. The Bell Springs Road closure has been moved from US-101 to the Humboldt / Mendocino Country line. These are hard closures restricted to emergency personal only. If you travel on Alderpoint Road please use caution. Sherwood Road in Mendocino County remains closed.

!!!Traffic Alert!!! Alderpoint Road is closed at from SR36 to Dyerville Loop Road. Dyerville Loop Road is closed at Fort Seward and Bell Springs Road is closed at US101, due to wild fires. Evacuations are in progress. Please stay off those roads so that emergency personnel can evacuate residents. There is no estimated time of re-opening.

!!!Traffic Update!!! US 101 is still closed between SR 162 and Willits with no estimated time of re-opening, due to a wild fire (Oak Fire). The alternate route for northbound traffic is SR 20 west and SR 1 for southbound traffic. This route is for necessitie traffic only and not for commercial traffic. SR 1 is narrow, windy and restricted and not recommended for large vehicles. An alternate commercial route is SR 20 east to I5 and west on SR 299. If you must travel, please use caution and be advised the air quality is poor due to smoke in the air. For Oak Fire updates on evacuations and closures, call 707-234-6052.
