It’s International Firefighters Day! My last wave of gratitude goes to the San Jose Fire Department. I remember the first time the SJFD parked their huge truck outside the market and a flood of red lights filled the building. I thought the place was burning down! A group of them beelined straight to my counter. I was baffled, thinking that maybe my oven was on fire. They had parked just to get their cookie fix. Reese’s were the crowd favorite! SJFD have always been full of ...compliments, and have supported us, often buying boxes at a time to share at the station. @standingsandy and I made sure that our local firefighters got their final cookie fix one last time. THANK YOU to the San Jose Fire Department for putting your lives on the line and being such wonderful supporters. THANK YOU to Captain Julian, Dan and Edwin for picking up and distributing the cookies...and for a tour of the station! ...Head’s up! With a lot of time on my hands, I’ll be attempting to cook more. The San Jose Police Department has protected the market for years and we would always looked forward to their arrival when working late on weekends. We had gotten to know them personally, knew their drink orders and spent time laughing alongside them as they casually offered live reviews of their favorite cookies to passing customers! @standingsandy and I wanted to turn the oven on one final, yet meaningful time.
