Our office has been a little busy as of late so I missed a week of New Member Mondays... BUT I AM BACK NOW. Happy Monday everyone! Let me introduce one of our latest members, Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise awareness of mental health within the Chinese community through advocacy, education, research, support, and services to represent the wide spectrum of Chinese families and individuals affected by mental ...illness, and to help them develop meaningful and productive lives in the future. They host events to celebrate and educate others about mental health. They also have peer support groups in the Cantonese, Mandarin, and English through Zoom every second Saturday of the month. More information about this could be found on their website: https://www.mhacc-usa.org/ #NewMemberMondays #OCCC #mentalhealth

The Chinatown Ambassador program improves Oakland Chinatown's image through community service. Sakhone Lasaphangthong has been volunteering with the Chinatown Ambassador Program for the last two years. In mid-2020, the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce officially hired him through generous community donations! Now, every Monday-Friday from 6AM-9AM, Sakhone cleans the streets of Oakland Chinatown, coordinates volunteer clean ups, paints over graffiti, meets with merchants, conducts homeless outreach, and more. Oakland Chinatown regulars might notice cleaner streets and graffiti cleaned up within a week. This is all due to Sakhone's dedication to improving Oakland Chinatown's image. OCCC recognizes and thanks Sakhone for his hard work and dedication. Take a look at some of the pictures to see his work! PC : Sakhone
