The Regional Forester has issued an order to prohibit entering or using developed campgrounds on the Eldorado, Plumas and Tahoe National Forests and the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. This order is in alignment with the Governor’s COVID-19 Stay at Home order that triggered when the Greater Sacramento Region’s ICU capacity dropped below 15%. Thank you for your cooperation. Stay healthy and safe.
Miss you all! Meanwhile...
El Dorado Forest is partially open as of today. Unfortunately, we're at home, so the campground will not re-open. Bummer! Lover's Leap Campground in Strawberry is open, and I believe Sand Flat may be open. No idea about Union Valley campgrounds. ... You may NOT disperse camp, and there are still no fires, propane or otherwise, allowed in the campgrounds.
We're sorry to announce that China Flat will not reopen this year. Please do NOT try to camp in the campground until the Forest Service lifts the order closing the forest. The fine for entering the forest is $5,000 and/or 6 months in jail, and the rangers are diligently patrolling. You WILL be caught, and we will NOT bail you out! In fact, you'll probably be banned from the campground. We love you and will miss you until we meet again next year!
