Today I want to talk about sweating. Ok, you may think, everyone sweats, some more than the other, what is the big deal? My answer: You are right, most of the healthy people sweat normally after exercise or when body temperature raise. However there exist a significant percentage of us who DO NOT sweat normally. For example, you may: 1. Sweat a lot even without too much exercise. 2. Sweat a lot at night during sleep. 3. Do not sweat when it should.... 4. Sweat so much you cannot stop it. 5. Sweat after feeling chilling 6. Yellowish sweatetc. When you encounter the situation above for, let’s say continuously longer than a week. You sure know something is wrong with your body. In Chinese Medicine we look at sweat as the sign of how your yang qi interact with your ying essences. We were taught yang qi + ying essence = sweat. When a person does not sweat normally, means there is something wrong with his/her yang qi or ying essence, and in most of time it’s a problem with yang qi. Position of sweat and what they means A) Head sweating: sweat limited to face, head and neck a. usually due to upper jiao heat that force the local ying essences to expel b. If also suffer heaviness in the body, loss of appetite, urination difficulty, this is cause by dampness and heat of middle jiao c. If with bitterness in the mouth and palpitation, lower rib pain, may due to heat in the liver/GB meridian. d. If been sick for a long time and hand and foot feeling cold, difficulty breathing.. then it’s ying essence almost runs out it’s about to break with yang means the situation is usually very bad, might not have too much time. B) Sweat in the palm and arch of the foot: if just a little consider normal, too much then can be the problem of ying deficiency, heat in the spleen/stomach. C) Sweating in the chest: usually occur in the area between breasts, a. if also have tiredness, loss of appetite, palpitation and insomnia then means heart and spleen deficiency. b. If palpitation, insomnia with a lot of dreams, not able to focus, lower back pain/soreness, then can be problem of heart and kidney channel’s interaction. In conclusion, when any of the above condition occurs regularly, consult your TCM doctors! Related article: https://m.zhzyw.com/zycs/wn/175413775KD8KKK24LEFHA.html See more
