We appreciate everyone's support in putting together the vast collection of food and drinks to take care of everyone that evening! --------- The "offseason" is upon us. The Chico High coaches run Northern Xtreme Wrestling Club, which facilitates the growth of North Section wrestling through providing an arena for student-athletes to train in the disciplines of freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, the styles o...f wrestling contested in the Olympics. Please sign up here -- we will train Mondays and Wednesdays through the end of May, starting this Monday, March 9th: https://www.chicorec.com/wrestling A gentle reminder: We have achieved our unparalleled successes over the last decade+ not just by working during the four months of the high school season; increasing one's level in wrestling requires a consistent pattern of training and hard work that persist through the spring, summer, and fall. *Particularly* if your child is not in a spring sport, let's get them wrestling (!). ------------------------------------------ CIF State wrapup: Our trip to CIF State, unfortunately, was a difficult one. Here's how things went: 108: Gavin Smith wrestled the tournament's 7 seed in championship round one, Ethan Perryman from Temecula Valley, and was defeated by tech fall before succumbing to Arlington HS of Riverside by fall in the consolation rounds. 115: David Rudkin was defeated by tech fall to Yucapia HS, the 14 seed, before losing a tight 7-4 decision to Orange Lutheran HS of Orange in consolations. 128: Rieker Pineda was defeated by Carter HS of Rialto 18-6 before losing by fall to James Logan HS of Union City. 147: Alex Rudkin was defeated by the 2 seed from Poway by tech fall before losing by major decision to Del Norte HS of Crescent City. girls 235: Rhema Geddes was defeated by Salinas HS, the Central Coast section champion, by fall before advancing via forfeit and then losing by fall to El Cajon Valley HS, the San Diego Section runner-up, by fall. We are very proud of our five state qualifiers for their outstanding achievements and their effort this season, and we congratulate Rieker Pineda on a fantastic career. The future is bright and we will renew our efforts to increase our success at the state meet! ---------------------------- We have started after-season debriefs with our Varsity athletes, reviewing their accomplishments and working together to understand student-athlete evaluations of their seasons and goals moving forward into next year. We'll try and accomplish these during lunch over the next month! :)

Chico Wrestling Friends and Family, Please join us a we celebrate the end of a great 2019-20 wrestling season. Below is listed what to bring on banquet night. When: Wednesday, March 4th @6:00 pm in Lincoln Center... Dress Code: Please dress up and an award will be given for best-dressed. Freshman: Main dish Sophomore: Side dish, salad or drinks (individual drinks) Juniors: Main Dish Seniors: Dessert If you are able to bring a case of water in addition to your assigned dish please let me know. We would like to have about 8-10 cases of water. Final Gear turn in is Thursday March 5th- after that you will be billed.

Pulling him out of retirement today

We had quite the weekend in two different cities this weekend -- our three girls in Stockton at the SJ-N Masters championships and the guys up in Redding at the North Section Masters championships. We came away from these two events with a combined five state qualifiers -- Rhema Geddes on the girls side and Gavin Smith, David Rudkin, Rieker Pineda, and Alex Rudkin on the guys side.
