Hi Everyone! This year TRIO-SSS has the opportunity to join the annual Giving Day, March 3rd. Help us meet the academic and basic needs of first-generation, low-income students and those living with a disability! Your donations will help our students purchase required course materials and technology, help students in crisis with emergency grants, help students pay graduation fees, assist with purchasing textbooks and help us hire more Peer Mentors. Student Spotlight! Our first Student Spotlight this semester is Diego Tena! Diego was born in Michoacán, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States at four years old and since then has lived in Gridley, CA. In December, Diego will graduate with a BS in Psychology and with a minor in Ag Business. We at TRIO are proud to announce that Diego will be starting Graduate school in the Spring at Chico State to obtain a Master’s in Business Administration with an option in Project Ma...nagement. We know with Diego's hard work and determination, he will do a fabulous in obtaining his masters. While at Chico State and with Leah's help, he was able to intern with Lundberg Family Farms. Through his internship, has worked with the Finance Department, which has allowed me to further my career skills and be better prepared for when he starts the MBA program next semester. Diego also wanted to take some time and share how tremendously appreciated he is of Leah. Leah played a vital part in obtaining my internship at Lundberg Family Farms. Leah went out of her way to connect me with the company’s HR department and make use of her contacts there to ensure I obtained the internship. Along the way, she has also helped me tremendously in crafting professional documents such as my Resume and Cover letters, allowing me to be more competitive and better market my skills. As I have told her, I will be forever grateful for the amazing opportunity she helped me obtain; she certainly was not obligated to do so or anything. Yet, she went out of her way to help me, and that strong work ethic and dedication, as well as her huge heart, is not seen in many people and deserves to be highlighted. Once again, congratulations, Diego, on getting into the Master program! We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you! #TRIOWORKS
