Hi all, Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we have decided that the Chico Forensic Conference will not be held this fall. As of right now, we are considering options to possibly host the conference during the spring over Zoom. Therefore, you should all expect a formal announcement on whether or not there will be a revised date for the spring 2021 Chico Forensic Conference in the coming weeks ahead.

This week's anthropology forum "When the Smoke Clears," will be presented by the Anthropology department's own Dr. Brian Brazeal and Dr. Georgia Fox. This is a free event, open to the public held Decemeber 12th in Ayres Hall Rm 120 at 4pm. After join us at the Bear, where a portion of any entrée purchased with the Chico Forensic Conference flyer will be donated to the 17th Annual Chico Forensic Conference!
This Thursday, join us in Ayres Hall Rm 120 at 4pm for this week's Anthropology Forum. Dr. Scott Brady presents, "Learning about Landscapes through the Lens of Rephotography." Afterwards swing by the Bear and join us for a burger! Remember, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the 17th Annual Chico Forensic Conference.
Sorry friends...there has been a last minute change to the Anthropology Forum this week. Dr. Milligan, Dr. Kendell and Dr. Bartelink will now be presenting, "Responding to California's Wildfires" this Thursday 11/21 at 4pm in Ayres Hall Room 120. And as always join us and the speakers at the Bear after. A portion of the proceed's will be donated to the 17th Annual Chico Forensic Conference.
Come see this week's Anthropology Forum (11/21) where some of Chico State's anthropology professors will be presenting about "The Poland DPAA Project" Join us, Dr. Bartelink, Dr. Kendell, Dr. Milligan, Dr. O'Brien, and Dr. Whelan this Thursday at 4pm in Ayres Hall Room 120. If you want to learn more about this project and have a craving for a burger, join us and the speakers after the forum at Madison Bear Gardens, where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the 17th Annual Chico Forensic Conference!
Chico State's own Dr. Brian Brazeal will be presenting at this week's Anthropology Forum. His talk "Counterpoint: Sri Lanka in the Global Gemstone Trade," will begin Thursday Nov. 14th at 4pm in Ayres Hall room 120. And don't forget to join us afterwards at the Bear for a delicious burger, where part of the proceeds will fund the 17th Annual Chico Forensic Conference.

We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who volunteered their time to help us, and those who donated to us this year and in previous years and for the student organizations present at the Conference. We'd like to take a moment and thank everyone who came out this Monday for our Round Table fundraiser. We had so much fun and we hope all of you did as well! And congrats to our pub quiz winners!
Dr. Allysha Winburn earned her Ph.D. in Anthropology at the University of Florida (UF). Dr. Winburn is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of West Florida (UWF) and a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA). She is a bioarchaeologically trained forensic anthropologist. Dr. Winburn’s research focuses on skeletal aging and the impacts that age, activity, and body mass have on osteoarthritis. She uses both a biological and cultural perspective in her research. She is also engaged in multi-disciplinary research that examines the impact of joint disease in living populations. Other research includes the archaeology of the African diaspora and studying human remains in Afro-Cuban ritual contexts. We are so excited to have Dr. Winburn join us for the 16th Annual Chico Forensic Conference!
