Brush clearing & Tree Planting Please join us next Sunday, January 11, at 10 a.m. for brush clearing and redwood tree planting day. We have more than 20+ redwoods that need to be planted around the clubhouse. We will also need to clear brush and remove Scotch Broom in the area. This work will start the restoration of our native habitat, and it will make our Area of Refuge safer for Wildfire. We need a lot of help with this one, as each SEEDLING needs space cleared around it..., a large enough hold dug to capture water in the summer, a below ground gopher cage, and above ground protection as well. Additionally, if you have any free standing redwood seedlings (not sapling, those are connected to the mother tree and are clones) we’ll plant those as well. We will also be looking for donated supplies. There will be an additional supply list posted later this week.

URGENT! PLEASE CONSERVE WATER! As a matter of routine, when we have long periods of rainfall, such as right now, all of us in the community need to practice good water conservation. The water plant cannot process water during periods of heavy rainfall or prolonged rainfall, such as now. The water turbidity becomes too high. Please conserve for the next several days and each time the rainfall is heavy and/or over a period of days.... Thank you.

Roads update - more paving, and roads & lanes blocked First the water main project. -- Today, (Monday) we will be paving on the Holy City side. So residents will have to use the North Ogallalla Warpath to enter/exit Park. Tuesday and Wednesday will be at various locations on Old Santa Cruz Hwy. But, traffic control will be handled with 2 Flagmen with a single lane for both directions. Thursday and/or Friday could be a road closure of the North Ogallalla Warpath road to Iydlwi...ld rd., due to work north of road at the bridge. However, I was just notified by San Jose Water that the work we have planned for Thursday and Friday could be impacted by PG&E shutdown of power. So, by Wednesday morning I should be able to update you all, If we are still going to do that road closure on that end of OSC Hwy. PG&E and the Shutdowns have disrupted up our schedule. But we will continue to work to get the project due as soon as possible. Thanks again for your patience and understanding. Daryll -- and the shaded fuel break work: -- Week (October 28 to November 1 Week 10): Due to anticipated severe weather conditions expected on Monday October 28th, no fuels removal work will be done and no lane closures on SR-17 that day. Staff will be concentrating on work that does not use machinery, that might cause a spark. Work is expected to recommence (weather permitting) Tuesday and crews will be working on the northbound side of SR-17 from Big Moody Curve, north to just north of Hebard Road. There will be a one-lane closure on SR-17 northbound, Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00AM to 3:00PM from the Summit Road interchange to Bear Creek Road. The Weekly Road Work Update The water main work along Old Santa Cruz is going to be disruptive again as they do paving work. From Daryll of Pacific Underground (the folks doing the work): "We have run into a schedule change due to the electrical shutdowns that occurred in the area. We have changed are finish pave schedule in order to complete 95% of it before the rains show up. This week will look like the following. Monday and Tuesday will be various locations prepping for ...finish paving on Wednesday through Friday. On Wednesday, we will do a road closure from Iydlwild to the North Ogallalla Warpath. This means the all Chemeketa residents will need to use Edwards or the South Ogallalla Warpath to enter or exit the park area. On Thursday and Friday, we will be closing Old Santa Cruz Hwy from just south of the north Ogallalla Warpath all the way to Holy City. On those 2 days all Chemeketa Park traffic will have to enter and exit the park area through North Ogallalla Warpath. We are leaving Monday the 28th as a possible 3 day of closure near Holy City if needed. I will update on Friday if needed. This is not the final phase of the project. We will have additional work to perform. We have changed this time to pave to insure that most 95% of finish paving is completed before any heavy rains show up. Thanks to all the residents for their patience and understanding they have shown us and continue to do." And, the Shaded Fuel Break work continues - including lane closures along Hwy 17 midday. "Next Week (October 21-25 Week 9): Crews will be working along the northbound side of SR-17 from Big Moody Curve North to Alma Fire station. Work will be conducted 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. This work will also include shoulder and traffic lane closures on Wednesday and Thursday. Week 10 (October 28 to November 1): Crews will be working along the highway shoulder northbound SR-17 from Big Moody Curve to the Alma Fire station. Work will include shoulder and traffic lane closures." -- It seems for the near future working from home has a distinct benefit. Be safe out there and please drive slowly when approaching or passing these crews working in our area. Cheers, Fred
