The Greek poet Homer once said, The charity that is a trifle to us can be precious to others. Chatterbox PR believes in giving back to the community that it lives and works in. But that doesn't have to involve just monetary donations. We believe that giving of your time, energy, talents and expertise is just as important and has as much impact as donating money. And it doesn't have to be a lot of your time, it can be an hour a day, an hour a week or even an hour a month. Ev...ery little bit helps. That's an hour of time and talent that otherwise would not be there for someone or some organization that really needs it. That's why we take to heart the concept of The Giving Hour. Spend an hour at a food bank or at a pet shelter, handing out flyers or volunteering at an event that raises money for charity. Chatterbox has a strong tradition of giving back to the community through pro-bono work, volunteering and supporting causes that are important to the community. In this way Chatterbox has donated more than $975,000 in the past ten years, including time, energy and talents to the community and various charities we feel make a difference in people's lives. And we will continue to do so. The Giving Hour is not just a concept, but an everyday reality here at Chatterbox. We truly do believe in the old adage, It's better to give than to receive. People often get PR confused with marketing or advertising but it’s not. It’s deeper than that. PR is knowing your target audience, showing up places and publication they read.... Creating a connection and building credibility. It’s much more than placing an ad in the paper.

Do you know the difference between social media strategy and social media tactics? A social media strategy is SO MUCH more than a list of tactics. Too often we ask questions like, "how often should I be posting?" or "what time of day should I post?" or even, "WHAT should I post?" But these aren't the right questions to ask! It is SO easy to get caught up in the WHAT and HOW... but everything should start with the WHO and WHY.

Planning the Center for Community Advocacy Annual Event. Join CCA for a fun, innovative and social-distanced event Drive-In Movie Night, Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Monterey Fairgrounds. CCA will screen the movie Book of Life (with Spanish subtitles). Arrival time is 4:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at 5:30 p.m.... There are only 70 vehicle spaces available, and cost is $120 per vehicle (bring the whole family). Each ticket includes a vehicle snack pack (1 large popcorn, 4 bottles of water, 1 regular cotton candy, 1 box of Red Vines and 1 Box of Junior Mints). Additional snack packs as well as burgers, pulled pork sliders, chicken strips, hot dogs and more can be purchased on site at the movie. There will also be a lemonade stand, and a full bar available for walk-up service (not included in the price) Sponsorship opportunities are available, including one presenting sponsorship for $7,500. In addition to this event, CCA will hold a special Opportunity Drawing that launches Oct. 3 and ends Nov. 8, as well as a Go Fund Me campaign. CCA’s important work is distilled in its slogan: Helping Farmworkers Help Themselves," which now goes beyond housing issues to include health and nutrition issues, safety, education and strengthening family relationships. CCA’s daunting challenge was crystallized in comments made by one of the early leaders of a neighborhood committee, Jesus Fernandez, who was quoted in a video made by CCA in the late 1990s: "We didn’t even know we had any rights. That was a stunning revelation to the general public, that often takes these basic human rights for granted and may not have been aware that members of our own community were denied them. What started 30 years ago continues in earnest today, and the work requires community support. Consider attending this CCA event or making a donation today. www.eventbrite.com/e/a-night-at-the-drive-in-movies-with-cc
